Introduction

First and foremost, please forgive the very poor condition of this scrapbook! It was subjected to vandalism at one point, and was for a long time considered lost altogether.

Second, I have made a "best effort" attempt to get the highest quality images with the lowest possible file size. My aim was to at least have most of the newspaper text readable. The result, I am afraid, is a very large and time-consuming download for some. Thus this "Gallery" format where thumbnails allow for a kind of Index to the complete scrapbook. Horizontal images have been rotated for convenience of viewing on the Web.

Third, this scrapbook is curiously out of chronological order (I suspect one clue to this is revealed by the memory I have of my Grandmother being extremely conservative about paper use...using both sides of every scrap of paper). I have no idea what the scheme was intended to be if there was one that was supposed to make logical sense. I do know it was originally begun by Pro himself, and was later a continuous pastime of my Grandmother, Nancy Mawson Olds.

I hope by placing this scrapbook on the Web that there will be those researching New Zealand, Otago, Dunedin, and the history of swimming and diving that will find materials here of value.
